Obama’s Arrogance Seeping Through

Friday, July 31st, 2009

By Floyd & Mary Beth Brown, Townhall.com

Obama thumbs his nose at average Americans

First reactions are always telling. When a person is caught unprepared and speaks off the cuff, you can see their true beliefs. By calling the actions of Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowley "stupid," Obama showed his true feelings. He moved from being the post-racial president and revealed that counter to his election campaign protests to the contrary, he was listening to the sermons of hate-mongering Rev. Jeremiah Wright. But even more troubling, Obama demonstrated his arrogance, a very dangerous character flaw for a president to possess.

Near the end of his primetime news conference, Obama cavalierly answered a question on the arrest of his friend, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Admitting first, "not having been there and not seeing all the facts," Obama then asserted that "the Cambridge police acted stupidly."

A prudent president would have said he couldn’t comment on this situation — not having been there and not knowing all the facts — and let it rest. But Obama recklessly let his tongue wag on, inflaming racial distrust of America’s police. If he had examined the facts in the case, Obama would have realized that the arresting officer, James Crowley, was an exemplary police officer, who not only taught classes on racial profiling but also administered CPR to basketball star Reggie Lewis as he was dying. This tremendous public servant was doing his job in responding to the 911 call. It was Obama’s Harvard friend Gates who let loose with yelling, name calling, profanity, threats and disorderly conduct for which he was arrested.

Obama’s ‘Cash for Clunkers’ Runs Out of Gas

Friday, July 31st, 2009

By MATTHEW DOLAN, COREY BOLES and JOSH MITCHELL, Wall Street Journal

Obamacare will be as much of a disaster as Obamaclunkers program

White House officials and lawmakers were studying late Thursday how to keep alive the government’s cash-for-clunkers incentive program because of concerns the program’s $1 billion budget may have been exhausted after just one week.

Obama administration officials warned congressional leaders Thursday it planned to suspend the program at midnight. But the White House released a statement late Thursday saying that completed deals would be honored and the program is still under review.

A White House official said, "We are working tonight to assess the situation facing what is obviously an incredibly popular program. Auto dealers and consumers should have confidence that all valid [cash-for-clunker] transactions that have taken place to-date will be honored."

Lawmakers are discussing with White House officials where to find funding — including possibly tapping the government’s Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, a congressional aide said.

Obama Turns On Freedom Around the Globe

Friday, July 31st, 2009

By Bob McEwn, Townhall.com

Obama loves supporting dictators and opposing the people

For more than twenty years American foreign policy has been guided by a freedom agenda: the notion that our security interests are best protected by advancing the cause of freedom around the world. Ronald Reagan championed it when he won the cold war, George H.W. Bush when he fought the first gulf war, and Bill Clinton when he committed America to defending human rights in the Balkans. Now, here comes President Barack Obama. who has effectively turned America’s back on the cause of freedom around the globe.

Right now, freedom hangs in the balance in Honduras. President Manuel Zelaya has been sent packing because of his attempted power grab and efforts to subvert the constitution. The Honduran constitution limits him to just one 4-year term. (This restriction is seen as so important that in Honduras even the Honduran congress and the President acting together cannot discard it.) Nevertheless, this Hugo Chavez wannabe began an unconstitutional and illegal referendum that would allow him to rule indefinitely. The Honduran Supreme Court, Attorney General, and Congress, however, all proceeded to follow their constitution. Accordingly, he was expelled and replaced by the proper successor of his own political party. Evidence now reveals the extent that Zelaya has been supported in his power grab by Chavez of Venezuela and neighboring Nicaragua who are placing hundreds of supporters into Honduras to foment trouble.

Obama Unfairly Targets Insurance as Enemy of Reform

Friday, July 31st, 2009

By Mort Kondracke, Real Clear Politics

Obama is picking on the wrong people

For one supposedly dedicated to bringing parties together for health care reform, President Barack Obama shows unremitting hostility toward one of them: the health insurance industry.

In practically every speech he gives or town hall he hosts, there’s a slam at insurance profits and methods – and no recognition of the role its lobby, America’s Health Insurance Plans, has taken to advance reform.

AHIP CEO Karen Ignagni, a former AFL-CIO official and Democratic Senate staffer, has departed utterly from the role that the insurance industry played in sinking health reform during the Clinton administration.

AHIP’s predecessor organization, the Health Insurance Industry Association, mounted the famous "Harry and Louise" TV ads that undermined public support for Clintoncare.

Media Ignores Worst of Obama Free Fall

Friday, July 31st, 2009

By Kevin Collins, Collins Report

Even worse than Obama’s overall numbers,

The media is glossing over the truth of Obama’s approval freefall. His situation is serious because of which groups are turning away.

July has been a disaster for Obama’s approval numbers. Gallup says Obama’s numbers fell 4 points overall and 7 points among 18 to 29s. With voters over 65 only 48% approve of Obama. Young and old are realizing they were lied to.

Rasmussen says Obama’s approval index (strongly approve versus strongly disapprove) has fallen to -12 points.

Zogby says Obama’s approval is 48% the lowest he has recorded for him. Obama has lost 9 points with Latinos; 15 % unemployment is killing hopes for change. Nevertheless, he can snap his fingers and get these fools back. They’re not capable of voting Republican.

Obama, “It’s the middle class White Reagan Democrats stupid!” Obama’s real problem is his meltdown with the so called moderates and conservative White Democrats. Gallup shows Obama lost 9 points among the “some college” voters and finds him plunging among those earning between $60,000 and $90,000 by a huge 10 points!

Obama Fails

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

By J.R. Dunn, American Thinker

Obama’s Policies are not helping, but hurting the economy

Over the past couple of weeks, it has become apparent even to politicians and the media that the Demented Spree Act of 2009, better known perhaps as the "Obama Stimulus", has not worked, and shows no sign of ever working.

Unemployment — the professed reason for the stimulus in the first place — is now at 9.5% and will break 10% within the next few months. Credit remains tight and industry is still fumbling. It is clear that there are no shortcuts back to a steady prosperity, that this recession will be overcome in the exact way such disasters always have been — by working our way out of it. The $787 billion ("real money", as Everett Dirksen would have put it), already spent, being spent, and to be spent, can be considered as so much waste paper.

The interesting thing about this is the reaction of our media and political elites — or rather, the lack of reaction. They’re behaving as if flushing away three-quarters of a trillion dollars is trivial. The failure of the greatest act of financial pump-priming in history has elicited no more than a collective shrug. Cognitive dissonance doesn’t come more obtuse than this. Our great opinion leaders have stumbled over a huge pile of facts having serious bearing on O’s future prospects and rather than pausing to take a look have instead gotten to their feet, brushed themselves off, and hurried away exactly as if nothing happened. The pretense appears to be that the fate of the stimulus has nothing at all to do with the rest of Obamus Maximus’s policies.

No. 3 at Justice OK’d Panther reversal

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

By Jerry Seper, Washington Times

Obama just Department drops the case against these thugs

Associate Attorney General Thomas J. Perrelli, the No. 3 official in the Obama Justice Department, was consulted and ultimately approved a decision in May to reverse course and drop a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party of intimidating voters in Philadelphia during November’s election, according to interviews.

The department’s career lawyers in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division who pursued the complaint for five months had recommended that Justice seek sanctions against the party and three of its members after the government had already won a default judgment in federal court against the men.

Front-line lawyers were in the final stages of completing that work when they were unexpectedly told by their superiors in late April to seek a delay after a meeting between political appointees and career supervisors, according to federal records and interviews.

Why Health Care Is Killing Obama

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

By Kevin McCullough, Fox News

Obama’s healthcare push is destroying his popularity

President Barack Obama is disconnected from the American people on the ideas behind improving health care in America. Recent Gallup poll numbers — placing him below former President Jimmy Carter in overall approval ratings — point to it.

And now so do numbers of additional new polls. The Washington Post/ABC News poll, which openly admits to polling a heavier segment of registered Democrats than independents and Republicans, puts his approval rating at below 50%.

The "passion index" tracked by the Rasmussen poll has watched the president’s "strongly approve" numbers go from "+10" on May 31, to break even "+0" on June 28, to "-8" on July14th. Those numbers mean that 8% more of the population now "strongly disapprove" of his performance/policies, than "strongly approve." Among male voters the Rasmussen index is a "-10" point spread.

And a recent Public Strategies poll reports that only 44% of the American people feel the administration is on the right course. That’s interesting because in March that number was 54%. Even big business has a better trend than the president: Four perecent of the population trust "corporate America" to do the "right thing" more than they did two months ago.

Earlier this week his head to head re-election numbers against the third place GOP contender in 2008, Mitt Romney, were dead even at 45% each.

So what happened since May to tank Obama?

Pelosi slams insurers as "immoral" villains

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

By Glenn Thrush, Politico

Nancy Pelosi knows a thing or two about being immoral

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to unite her divided caucus around a common enemy — the health insurance industry — previewing an August recess line of attack by Democrats trying to maintain momentum on health care reform.

On Thursday, reporters pelted Pelosi with questions about a liberal Democratic insurrection against a deal cut with Blue Dog Democrats that would significantly weaken the health care public option — and she responded with a withering attack on the insurance industry.

"The public option — that’s where the insurance companies are making their attacks — it’s almost immoral what they are doing, " said Pelosi, addressing reporters outside of her office a few minutes ago.

"Of course, they’ve been immoral all along," she added. "They are the villains in this, they have been part of the problem in a major way. They are doing everything in their power to stop a public option from happening and the public has to know.. They have had a good thing going for a long time at the expense of the American people and the health of our country."
