Carter is dead wrong, almost all opposition to Obama is based on policy
Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that racial politics played a role in South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama’s speech to Congress last week and in some of the opposition the president has faced since taking office.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American,"Carter told "NBC Nightly News.""I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way,and I’ve seen the rest of the country that shares the South’s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans."
"That racism inclination still exists, and I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of belief among many white people —not just in the South but around the country —that African- Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply,"Carter said.
Michael Steele, who is the first African-American to chair the Republican National Committee, denied Wednesday that race is fueling protests.
"President Carter is flat-out wrong,"Steele said in a statement. "This isn’t about race. It is about policy."
Carter has idiotic ideas. His story is so old. This goes way beyond any racial issue. That card is too old to play anymore.
Plus, what about the race card going the other direction. Who was racist against Bush or any other white president?
Many times people who see complaints or charachteristics in others are the ones who are carrying those complaints or charachteristics. In other words,Jimmy is the one holding the thought of racisim.
This old goat would benefit from a 2 x 4 right between the eyes. He is treasonous and poisonous;in addition,he is stupid enough to be used as a pawn in Obama's last-ditch struggle for control over the American people. I will be very glad when Carter is permanently silenced so that never again will we have to listen to him pontificate. He has outlived his usefulness to the nation,if indeed he ever had any.
I couldn't agree more. Who cares what this has been,(actually never was),thinks. Remember the 20%+ interest rates that he brought on the country?
Why on earth does everyone keep calling Obama "a black man"? He is half white after all….and if memory serves me correctly, there is some Arab on his fathers side too. His supporters treat him as though he were of some black royalty. The race baiters are just miffed because there ISN'T any racial prejudice to work through. The only time it comes up is when some drip like Carter drags that old worthless cliche out for a spin. The guy got elected, didn't he? And it wasn't accomplished by the black community but by the while Democrats that didn't do their homework!!!!
Word to the Domocrats:Next time you fall in love with one of your candidates, get the stars out of youy eyes and try vetting him a bit ,and spare us the angst of having to get to the botton of his sordid associations. Better yet ,pay attention to the moderate democrat members of the party so we can avoid this partisanship that is tearing the country apart. It does no good for the main stream media to ignore all of this because we have our ways of getting to the truth. This is NOT what our forefathers fought and died for.
Carter may be speaking for himself. He should be eternally grateful for President Obama, without whom Mr. Carter would remain in history as the worst president on record. Then, again, maybe he is and is trying to contribute in an effort to assure that standing.
IT SEEMES TO ME PRESIDENT OBAMA IS OF MIXED RACE,LIKE SO MANY AMERICANS ARE,SO HIS COLOR IS A NON ISSUE. I SUPPOSE WHEN YOU HAVE NO DEFENSE ON THE AWFUL POLICIES COMING OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE YOU CAN TRY AND SHIFT THE DISCUSSION TO RACE. WHAT A SHAME A FORMER PRESIDENT HAS NOTHING POSITIVE TO OFFER.
I guess I'm just confused. When I don't like his policies,am I being a racist vs his black half or his white half?
