Thousands of homosexual and lesbian activists marched through Washington today after President Obama pledged to end the ban on gays serving openly in the US military.
The rally was organised by protesters impatient with the president’s failure to act on his campaign promises for gay reforms.
But in a major speech last night,Mr Obama insisted:‘I’m here with you in that fight. Do not doubt the direction we are headed and the destination we will reach.’
He vowed to end the Pentagon’s policy of allowing gays and lesbians to serve in the military so long as they don’t disclose or act on their sexual orientation.
‘I will end ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ – that is my commitment,’the president said to loud applause at a gala dinner hosted by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s biggest gay advocacy group.
Suspicions confirmed! He's a closet gay!
sick sick sick —where are we headed???
It's about time!! This country was built on the concept of individual freedoms. We cannot continue to subjugate one segment of our population for purely spurious superstitions and religious dogma.
Really? A closet gay? some people are so ignorant….so I guess everyone must be a closet gay because the fact is everyone has a friend or a family member that is gay or in the closet because of ignorance that surrounds them. I am not a fan of Obama but the fact is that for once he is trying to do something right.
I think that this is just one more ploy to make the people think that he's working for them. I have a good hunch that he will not fulfill his promise. Look at how many promises he has made &just how many has her fulfilled?
BTW,who is Lady GA GA? You can tell I am not into this thing!! LOL
Obviously,Obama was never in the military. Trust me,once an individual is known to be gay,he or she will not be well received by some and their duty will not be easy. For some strange reason,a number of people still believe in traditional relationships, possibly because that is the usual way to create new life on this planet. Maybe Obama can improve on that along with everything else.
