Tuesday’s Elections and the Democratic Agenda

The showdown in Virginia has important implications for the upcoming elections

Democratic enthusiasm for President Barack Obama’s liberal domestic agenda—particularly for a government-run health insurance program—could wane after the results of the gubernatorial elections next Tuesday in Virginia and New Jersey. GOP victories in either state will tell Democrats in red states and districts that support for Obama’s policies is risky to their political health.

The more significant is the open race for governor in Virginia,a purple state. The Washington Post poll released Monday showed 55% support for Republican Attorney General Bob McDonnell and 44% for Democratic State Senator Creigh Deeds. The president is trying to reverse these numbers by stumping the state for Mr. Deeds.

Mr. McDonnell has relentlessly focused on the economy, transportation and education. Mr. Deeds tried to make the race about abortion and his opponent’s supposed animus toward working women. But Mr. McDonnell understood that anti-Obama,anti-Washington sentiment was not enough to win and bent the contest back to jobs, roads and schools. He also has a good ground game to turn out the vote, which the GOP hasn’t done for too many years in Virginia.

  • 2010 is coming and let's hope all the crooks will be removed from office. The ones who consistently vote against the American people with their liberal agenda. Let's get them out at the ballot box next November. Clear them out once and for all. They are selling America down the river deliberately. All the progressives and liberals need to be removed.

Looking at the PA election,McCain got clobbered in Philly &Pittsburgh. Well wake up! This is going to happen in every major urban center nationwide from now on! That's fallout from ACORN and it ain't going away! Voter fraud is now the modus apparendi for the dimmo's and everywhere they can steal the vote, they will. Look at the legal shenanigans they pulled to dump servicemans'votes! There's going to need to be a real conservative tidal wave to get past the the massive fraud. Unless we're 5% up,there will be a long drawn out court battle, just like Colman-Franken from here on in,with similar results. I'm from South Boston originally, and Billy Bulger (local dem hack) NEVER had a problem getting reelected. The state rep Lynch, will never have to worry about a reelection campaign either. When i was a kid,we all knew,"the election ain't over till the graveyard at Saint Auggie's votes!"

Now is the time to start planning and working out how to bring it to light and tactics to fight it. Thoughts?
