Obamacare:A really eventful episode of the Sopranos

By MICHAEL TANNER,New York Post

President Obama’s attempts to ram health- care reform through an increasingly reluctant Congress are starting to resemble a really eventful episode of “The Sopranos.”

Whether or not you believe former Rep. Eric Massa’s bizarre accusations of locker-room confrontations and conspiracies to drive him from office, there is no doubt that the Obama administration and its congressional allies are willing to use every trick in the book to get this bill passed.

They’ve already bought votes with pork and special deals —the “Louisiana purchase”($300 million to bolster that state’s Medicaid program, which swayed Sen. Mary Landrieu);the “Cornhusker kickback”($100 million to Medicaid there, sweetening the pot for Sen. Ben Nelson),and Florida’s “Gator Aid”(a Medicare deal potentially worth $5 billion,a hefty price for Sen. Bill Nelson’s vote). Plus the millions for Connecticut hospitals,Montana asbestos abatement and so on.

Nor were the Obamans willing to let a little thing like election laws stand in the way. They rewrote Massachusetts law to allow for an appointed senator to hold office for several months, hoping to get the bill through before the special election that Scott Brown ultimately won. Their plans spoiled, they even considered holding up Brown’s seating to let the appointed senator continue to vote on health care —until public outrage forced them to back down.

And,of course, there has been an unprecedented willingness to ignore congressional rules —from the failure to appoint a “conference committee”to negotiate differences between the House and Senate bills,to their current plans to use the reconciliation process to bypass a Republican filibuster.

Obama is breaking laws and going against everything in the Constitution. I don't know anything good he's done since in office. He shouldn't be in there. He should be tried as a treasonous enemy.

I agree with Jan. Now they are trying to get a Police and Fire Monopoly Bargaing Bill HR 413 passed so the they have to be part of the unions. We can't afford that. Our firemen are volunteers. We have a small town. The unions have to be stopped. They helped Obama get elected so they think its pay back time. Also they are going after gun control so people eventually won't end up owning guns. They are getting rid of senators and representatives if they don't go along with the healthcare bill. Even Nancy P. said on tv tonight they need more time to get the bill ready. The Democrats and Obama have kept the representatives out of meetings on healthcare. They have to be stopped or we won't have any rights or freedoms at all.

We all are aware of how crooked Obama &his troops are,but we need to watch Progressive Republicans as well. John McCain is a good example of the enemies of our nation equal to Obama. Runner45 is right;impeach the lot of them, including the Republican Caucus.

We need not only impeach them but put them in jail. They owe our country lots of money and they need to pay that back. After all that would leave them all broke and everyone equal like Obama says he wants america to be but if you noticed they all have their millions are trillions. I call that stupid on america part for letting that fly.

I would like to see every last politician in office thrown out in the next election! I do NOT care if they are Republicans/Democrats –they are ALL guilty of subverting our CONSTITUTION! WE the PEOPLE have spoken and they –our so called "Representatives"have chosen to IGNORE US. We the PEOPLE appearently have NO VOICE in our OWN GOVERNMENT! IT IS TIME FOR A REAL CHANGE! Back to "LAW OF THE LAND –thats right folks GOVERN by our CONSTITUTION –not POWER/GREED/and getting REELECTED!
