Obama has found himself on the edge
President Obama’s attempt to paint the Republicans into a corner with his latest health care reform proposal,and his determination to pass health care reform using outright lies and obfuscation,highlights what has become the motto of this administration:The end justifies any means. Is this what the majority of the Left in America signed onto?
In President Obama’s desperation to pass his radical health care reform bill,we have had the public show of the Obama administration and the (once-)mainstream media searching in vain for that elusive consensus that those dastardly Republicans,who only want to see the president fail,refuse to provide.
The Democrats and the president have not been able to bribe or coerce any Republicans into backing either the House or Senate version of the health care bill. The strategy was altered to rely on the (once-)mainstream media to portray the Republican Party as evil,obstructionist,in the pocket of big business,against the little guy,and the personification of hate…thus the Blair House “bipartisan”show produced and directed by the president himself.
Before the ascendancy of the alternate media,this was a very successful tactic in intimidating some Republicans into voting for a bill providing the Democrats with the façade of consensus. But thanks to the internet,talk radio and cable news,the current Republicans in office are not as easily cowed as many of their predecessors were. Nonetheless,the Obama administration reverted to this now-threadbare maneuver when it came to their last-ditch effort to push health care reform.

Wow! How misinformed you are! First,let me say that I'm a liberal democrat. I make just less than 100k per year. My insurance premium went up in Oct. 2009,by 28%. I never get sick. I don't smoke. I work out at the gym 3-4 times per week. Only used my insurance for 1 wellness check last year and now,I get an insurance rate hike. My carrier is Aetna. How can anyone believe this garbbage that is spewed on blogs like this…it's truly incredible.
When you write that the Left is at the Brink…I agree. We're at the brink of ensuring that health care is affordable for those who have it. We're at the brink of ensuring that those who do not have health insurance have the right to be insured. We're at the brink of doing something that has never been done before. We're at the brink of seeing what kind of nation we truly are…not this "stuff"you read about in the history books or the "stuff"people in other countries say about us and how wonderful it must be to live in these United States. Great people nor great nations back away from extreme challenges of their times! They take them head-on!

Yes we're on the brink of showing what really makes us different from any other country. And oddly enough,it's people like you who push us to be great. We have to be great to overcome the fears,the conspiracy theories,the lies,misinformation,distrust,the partisan politics and yes as you stated,the personification of hate. We have to be great to overcome these attacks of vile and putrid misinformation. It's people like you who let times define you rather than you defining the time. Will this be the time that made us great or will it be the time when we fell to achieve greatness? The amazing thing is that we get to chose. The majority of America,gets to chose which path we take.
Unfortunately these are some of the negative attributes of our nation. Many of these negative attributes lay dormant from when our nation was divided between North and South. They have resurfaced now,during this presidency,the fears,misinformation and the personification of hate.
