10 Reasons Congress should Repeal ObamaCare

1. The American people are opposed to it:

Obama struggles to capitalize in polls

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/35162.html

Mason- Dixon Poll: “Miami Herald:Florida voters dislike the new healthcare law so much that President Barack Obama and the state’s top Democrat,U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, are paying a hefty political price, according to a new survey and analysis by Mason-Dixon Polling &Research. Only 34 percent of Florida voters support the new law while 54 percent are against it,according to the poll. Opposition is significantly strong among two crucial blocs:those older than 65 and voters with no party affiliation. Seniors disfavor the bill by a 65-25 percent margin, while independents oppose the law 62 -34.” 3/27/2010

2. Voters think they personally would suffer, not gain, from healthcare reform:

In a survey of voters in 35 Congressional Districts conducted by the polling company™,inc./ WomanTrend (tpc/WT) on behalf of Independent Women’s Voice from March 8-10,2010,some 53% of voters surveyed anticipated that they and their loved ones would be worse off “if the President and Congress passed their current version of healthcare reform.” In separate questions, majorities also predicted negative effects on the U.S. economy and U.S. healthcare system if the current legislation became law.

Do you think ______ would be (ROTATED) better off or worse off if the President and Congress passed their current version of healthcare reform or do you think it would make no difference?
Better OffWorse OffNo Difference
19%53%21%You and Your Loved Ones
21%54%19%The Economy (Half-Sample)
25%55%14%The Healthcare System (Half-Sample)

· The tpc/WT data from the 35 Congressional Districts was affirmed in a CBS March 18-21,2010 survey in which the plurality (34%) of Americans believed that “the reforms in the current health care bill will make the health care system worse”.  Twenty-nine percent anticipated improvements while 8% predicted no changes.

· Furthermore, the CBS survey also revealed that only 20% of Americans thought the current healthcare reform bill will help them personally.  Thirty-five percent anticipated that they will be negatively impacted while 38% – the plurality – expected no effects on them.

· A CNN survey conducted March 19-21,2010 found that 62% of Americans believed the “amounts [they] pay for medical care” would increase.  Sixteen percent thought their costs would decrease while 21% anticipated they would remain the same.   The same survey also revealed that 47% of Americans thought they and their families would be worse off while 19% thought their families would be better off;one-third thought there would be no real changes.

3. It expands the scope of government:

A mid-March 2010 CBS survey of adults nationwide revealed that the majority (51%) of Americans – including 59% of self-identified Independents– believed that the current healthcare reform bill “will lead to too much government involvement in healthcare system”. Just 14% thought it was “not enough” involvement while 28% believed it to be the “right amount”.

Similarly,a mid-March 2010 CNN survey found 56% of Americans thought that “the

Democratic Party’s healthcare proposal creates too much government involvement.”

Half as many (28%) thought it established the right amount of government intervention

16% believed the legislation did not go far enough.

In the tpc/WT survey of 35 swing Congressional Districts represented by Democrats:

· Disagreement outpaced agreement by more than 3-to-1 with the statement: “It is the responsibility of the federal government to mandate that everyone have government-approved health insurance and to be penalized if they do not.(76% disagree vs. 22% agree)

· Agreement outweighed disagreement by 13 points with the argument: “It would be an unprecedented violation of individual rights for the federal government to mandate that everyone have government-approved health insurance and to be penalized if they do not.” (55% agree vs. 44% disagree)

· By nearly 2-to-1,respondents agreed,“the current legislation gives government too big a role in the healthcare system.(63% agree vs. 32% disagree)

Nearly two-thirds of Americans say ObamaCare costs too much and expands the government role too far:

4. The individual mandate is unconstitutional:

Mandating that individuals must obtain health insurance, and imposing any penalty—civil or criminal—on any private citizen for not purchasing health insurance is not authorized by any provision of the U.S. Constitution.

5. It allows for federal funding of abortion:

Though the President has issued a separate and easily rescindable Executive Order preventing federal funding for most abortions, the actual language of the legislation allows for it.  This is concerning to voters:

National polls for years have shown popular opposition to taxpayer funded abortion, with opposition ranging anywhere from 60%-72% depending on the survey and the audience.

6. It raises taxes on Americans for 10 years but only provides “so-called” benefits for six:

According to a new analysis from Americans for Tax Reform, over the course of a

Decade, the reconciliation bill will add an estimated $52.3 billion in new taxes. These

taxes will be levied against

employers,the sick,low-income and moderate-income workers,and just about everyone

else,regardless of income.

Many aspects of the law don’t occur for 10 years:

7. It imposes a tax on millions of young workers making less than $75,000 per year:

According to 2008 Census Bureau data, there are 11 million uninsured Americans between 25 and 34,the majority of whom earn less than $75,000. Many choose not to buy health insurance but will be forced by the federal government to do so or pay a “fine”of $695 or 2.5% of taxable income, whichever is higher. Many of those will simply pay the fine rather than buy insurance, which would cost more than the fine. Therefore, the so-called extension of insurance coverage is a tax that has nothing to do with insurance.

8. It destroys American jobs and undermines basic industries that employ millions of Americans:

More than 130 other economists joined Ms. Furchtgott-Roth,former Chief economist at the U.S. Department of Labor recently in signing a statement

President Obama says “you can measure America’s bottom line by looking
at Caterpillar’s bottom line.”

“Heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar says the new health care reform law
will create a $100 million drag on its first-quarter earnings because of

Indiana is home to more Sallie Mae workers than any other state.

“The reforms passed Sunday night as part of the health-care reform
package could prompt student lender Sallie Mae –which employs 700
people at a Muncie call center –to cut a quarter of its workforce or
close its Muncie office outright.” (Muncie Star Press,3/20/10

Massachusetts’life sciences industry is the Bay State’s second-biggest
driver of job growth.

“A dire warning from Bay State medical-device companies that a new sales
tax in the federal health-care law could force their plants –and
thousands of jobs –out of the country has rattled Gov. Deval Patrick,a
staunch backer of the law…‘This bill is a jobs killer,’said Ernie
Whiton, chief financial officer of Chelmsford’s Zoll Medical Corp.,
which employs about 650 people in Massachusetts. …‘We could be forced
to (move) manufacturing overseas if we can’t pass along these costs to
our customers,’said Whiton.”(Boston Herald,3/25/10

NEW HAMPSHIRE
Year-round tourism is New Hampshire’s largest industry.

“The state’s seasonal tourism industry is only now beginning to realize
that it could get hammered by the new health care reform law. The bill
signed into law …fines businesses that do not provide health
insurance to full-time employees who work more than 120 days a year.
The assessment is $2,000 per employee, which, according to SkiNH
lobbyist Bruce Berke and group president Alice Pearce, could mean as
much as $1 million in fines to the big ski resorts, some of which hire
as many as 500 seasonal workers.”(New Hampshire Union-Leader,3/25/10

“John Kempinski, owner of Crossroads Pharmacy in Hanover Twp.,fears the
health care bill …will burden him with crushing taxes. ‘If they
raise taxes,it’s going to affect every small business,’Mr. Kempinski
said. ‘Luzerne County’s taxes are going up. All those taxes are going
up and if they throw another tax on us,it curtails me from remodeling,

As Obama said "Bring it on!"
Nevermind that republicans would have to win 20 seats in the senate
Nevermind that republicans would have to win 100 seats in the house.
Nevermind that the president would never sign a repeal so the soonest it could happen is 2013.
Nevermind that most people don't like it when insurance companies cancel their policies the minute they get sick.
Nevermind that most people think they and their children should not be discriminated against for pre-exisiting conditions.
Nevermind that small businesses can use the tax breaks in the bill to help them get health insurance for their employees
Nevermind that the new health care law brings health insurance to 32 million people that did not have it previously.

Nevermind all of that, please campaign on repeal so that the undecideds and independants of the country can see just how out of touch the far right is. And don't forget to spend lots and lots of campaign money on "Repeal Health Reform"promotions and commercials.

I was just wondering about some of your points. I don't think they are calling us children who can't take care of ourselves. What I think they are doing is helping out all the young college kids or young adults in a transitional period in their life that don't have jobs, and can't afford their own health care. It's great that you have a job and all,but that's not true for many Americans. Most of your points really just show how out of sync you are with Americans in real need;if one of your arguments is that they are "treating you like a child"than you may actually be one.

You have no idea what you're saying. Who will pay for this? Why don't we start making the insurance companies responsible instead of letting the government take over? Do you really want the IRS to become a police force? Our government clearly shows it can't even run itself!
It's clear you don't own your own business, like we do,or you would see just how far the radical left has taken our country from its original direction.
Why is Obama trying to destroy our Republic? I think Obama should be impeached or brought up on criminal charges. Why are we letting this man get away with concealing his personal documents,i.e. birth certificate…and don't say we've already seen the original one!
