But that’s exactly what will happen August 5, Alexi Giannoulias’U.S. Senate campaign announced last Friday. Barack Obama will be in town in early August to raise funds for his friend Alexi. The campaign had to break that news Friday to sweep away the "Kirk raised $2.3 million,Giannoulias only $900 k"headlines that would have hit if not for the "Obama rides into town to save Alexi"grabber.
The Giannoulias family’s Broadway Bank loaned millions to reputed and convicted mob bosses during the years the now-State Treasurer Giannoulias was Broadway’s chief loan officer. Convicted felons and known mobsters were among those Giannoulias and his staff found worthy of huge loans:
Boston Blackie’s owner Giannis was arrested on March 11th as he attempted to flee the country. Records show Broadway Bank made a $4.25 million loan to Boston Blackie’s in February of 2005 and a $1.2 million loan to Giannis in December of 2002 – after Giannis was convicted of illegal firearm possession in 1996. Giannoulias was Vice President and Chief Loan Officer of Broadway Bank when both loans were given.
Then Broadway was one of close to 20 Illinois banks seized by the feds this year,and U.S. taxpayers foot the bill.
And the Leader of the Free World is coming back home to raise campaign funds for the young Giannoulias because he just can’t do it without the President’s help?
The times,they are surreal.
