KUHNER:Should Arizona secede?

By Jeffrey T. Kuhner- The Washington Times

Judicial activism is pushing America to the breaking point. This week,a federal judge blocked key provisions of Arizona’s immigration law, thwarting the will of the people. The decision was ominous and will reverberate for years to come.

Judge Susan Bolton, appointed by former President Bill Clinton,is a liberal elitist who believes judicial imperialism trumps democracy. Her ruling states that local police cannot check the immigration status of people arrested or stopped for violations of the law. In her view, that would amount to an abuse of civil liberties and unduly burden the federal immigration system. She also stipulated that residents cannot be required to carry proof of legal status.

Her decision strikes at the very heart of the Arizona law,S.B. 1070. Supported by President Obama’s Justice Department and the American Civil Liberties Union, the ruling sets the stage for a protracted legal battle. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vows to appeal the ruling –all the way to the Supreme Court,if necessary. In the meantime, the people of Arizona –and America –will continue to endure the onslaught of illegal immigration.

Mr. Obama’s decision to sue Arizona is a betrayal of his constitutional oath to secure our porous border. The administration’s spin is that the "border has never been more secure."It points to an influx of Border Patrol agents and more resources devoted to enforcement technology. Yet the reality remains:Aliens continue to cross every day. Arizona is home to more than a half-million illegal immigrants. Phoenix has become the kidnapping capital of America. Mexican drug lords order contract killings on Arizona sheriffs. Violent crime is pervasive. Instead of helping the people in need of protection,Mr. Obama is in effect siding with the lawbreakers.

Why is it that when a judge issues a decision that the fringe right-wing doesn't like(and in Bolton's case it's just a delay to allow further study),even though that decision is firmly based on the federalist separation of powers established in the Constitution, the fringe right-wing (that says its primary goal is to uphold the Constitution) suddenly yells "judicial activism?"Can someone on this website answer that contradiction, and not just fling a bunch of insults in reply? Come on folks, enlighten stupid ole me.

Secession is an exercise in futility and a waste of time and resource. The Civil War decided this dispositively. The United States is a PERPETUAL indestructable union made up of indestructable States.

Just in case you 2 haven't noticed, the US is deemed by law to protect it's citizens and states. When a state is invaded by lawless people it is required by LAW to step in and protect the citizens of the United States of America. When a state can not get the protection of the law, they are required to protect their own citizens. The law that Arizona passed is identicle to the law that has been on the books for years under the guide of protection of borders of the US and law enforcement of all levels, city, state and federal must adhere to these laws. What arguement do you people have to the Constitution? I helped protect you for 20 years and now you people say "to hell with you and the Constitution". I served for 8 years in the Army and 12 years in the Air Force in the enlisted ranks. Oh,yeah,I can't take a stand! I have been classified as a potential terrorist by NSA and I will be requested to commit suicide within the next 5 years (accordin to Obama Care). Just what you people want! A scapegoat! But then you probably won't read the remarks on this blog.

I tried to read your "remarks"Sarge, but it is so incoherent with so many grammatical and spelling errors that I have a hard time understanding your argument. I find it interesting that so many of the yahoos who are against bilingual education in the schools can't write a simple error-free English sentence. As for the Constitution,Judge Bolton clearly upheld the federal separation of powers that is established in the Constitution, but, like clear writing, that also seems beyond your IQ.

jakob you wouldn't know truth if it was a turd purched on your face. You reveal the only truth is the plethora of ignorance you have and a borrowed IQ if any. Of all the foreign countries I've traveled,Never once did I expect a native of that country to learn my language. Like cock roaches we are invaded, like children illegals are, inable to support themselves or their family and we've become obligated to support from tax payers dollars and the hard work from Americans with little in return except murder, theft, and other crime. No sir,you mutt YOU don't get it. Ever hear the expression Mr. Truthsayer,"When in Rome"….?

Sarge, this column is not intended to be a showcase for grammatical genius nor a contest on who among us is to awarded top prize in some impromptu spelling bee. Your post speaks the truth loud and clear (whoops —loudly and clearly). Yes,Arizona ought to set a precedent for other border states who are suffering terribly from this ongoing invasion across our southern border. Secession is an extreme reaction to this crisis;we never thought it would come to this. Obama and his sorry administration just doesn't get it,do they?

  • thomas

NO,but all other states should back up these laws and get rid of obama and czars.

  • Elizabeth

First of all, this judge has decided arbitrarily to
forbid law enforcement to check the identification
of suspected illegals,am I right about that?
If I am wrong,it is irrelevant, because she did
not follow through on what the law enforcement
had asked for in order to do their jobs well
    and safely.

    In so doing,she is,yes,delaying and for a
    purpose that only she knows.

Meanwhile, out in the desert, the wars go
on and she and Obama twiddle their thumbs
while good men are shot and stoned.

Thomas is right…other states need to back
up the laws. Kai is right-on,also,that AZ
should set a precedent. We are all supporting
Governor Brewer and the men on the border.

And if secession is the way to go,so be it.

While Obama rules the land, the land is
not going to be the way it used to be
before his hope and change. It would be
better to be disassociated from his tyranny.

That is if he is never removed, and that is
    impossible to believe…too many citizens
    are on to him,now.

As for grammar and spelling…when someone
like Sgt. Mowrey makes a comment here,
it would behoove you,Jakob- the- psychiatric
patient,to keep your criticisms to yourself.

You really do have no self-esteem,do you?

Thank you,Sgt. Mowrey for your input and
for serving our country for so many years.
You and your colleagues-in -arms are the
reason we are still able to have an America
and why we will not let it be mowed under
by the likes of Obama and his cronies.

  • Elizabeth

    And,there is NO 'fringe right-wing'
as you call it;as time is revealing, the
'left wing'is becoming weaker by the
day. Soon, there will be only a ghost
of a 'fringe left-wing'still in existence.

    Take that to the bank.

  • Elizabeth

    Oh,and choose a bank that Obama's
    meddling and incompetent fingers
    have not been into,causing it
    to fail.
