“Okay children, who wants ice cream and chocolate brownies for dessert any time you want? You can have them for dessert whether you eat your dinner or not.”
“Now who wants lemon jello for dessert every night after dinner only if you eat liver and broccoli?”
“Who wants us to just leave you alone and let you eat what you want?”
We know the answers to these questions;but the Democrats and other supporters of Obamacre don’t.
They think that “Once people experience the wondrous benefits of Obamacare, they will punish any political Party that takes this ‘great benefit’from them.”
They compare Obamacare to Medicare and Medicaid, but does this comparison actually hold up?
When Medicare and Medicaid came into our lives, they were pretty much loved and seen as an opportunity to have ice cream and brownies for dessert at a minimal price. Of course, taking either or both of these programs away would be political suicide.
Nevertheless,Obamacare is very different. It was forced on us with illegal stunts, bribery tricks, and a cynical Christmas Eve Senate vote. Obamacare was never sold to us,and any effort to do so would fail miserably. The more we see of Obamacare, the less we like it. Americans don’t see Obamacare as ice cream and brownies;but rather liver, broccoli, and lemon jello.
During Senator Ted Cruz’s marathon speech against Obamacare, not a single Democrat rose to defend Obamacare as a beneficial program. Each of those who summoned the courage to go toe to toe with Cruz on camera essentially said,“Eat your liver and broccoli, and we’ll give you lemon jello for dessert. Do this because we say so,and it is the law of the land.”
Assertions that taking it away will be seen as an attack on our lives and not a welcome relief from a government gone crazy with power are simply wrong.
The Democrats have never been able to sell us on Obamacare, even when we knew only what they wanted us to know about it. Now that we have learned more about this monster, how do they expect to sell us on it now?
Using tricks and lies to force this “plate of liver and broccoli” down our throats could still work, but Obamacare will never be popular. And those who want to end it will ultimately be seen as heroes, not enemies.
