Obama’s Iran Syndrome

Twenty-six senators (13 Democrats and 13 Republicans) have introduced legislation to impose new sanctions on Iran because of their nuclear development program. Obama is obviously arguing against the legislation because it works against “the deal” he made with the Iranians to address the very same issue.

The question is why? Why has everyone around the world almost unanimously denounced this “deal” as a “historic mistake?”

Unlike Obama, these senators have realized that Iran is not to be trusted – which has been proven time after time after time. Unlike Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry who thinks North Korea is not a nuclear power; these senators have realized that the details of the deal are the problem.

The deal that Obama is seeking to protect has no adverse effects on Iran’s enrichment program. In fact, Iran declared that their “right… [to continue enrichment]… is clearly stated in the text of the agreement.” Iran would then say “…that our enrichment activities will continue as before.”

At this point, any human being capable of rational thought has to realize that the deal cannot be all things to all people. So, what does Iran have to give up to have the sanctions eased for the next six months?

The answer is nothing. They have to do nothing for six months and they will get paid billions for it.

From Reuters:

  • From the existing uranium enriched to 20%, retain half as working stock of 20% oxide for fabrication of fuel for the TRR (Tehran Research Reactor). Dilute the remaining 20% UF6 to no more than 5%.

So, if this is not an Obama endorsement of Iran’s right to enrich uranium; then what is it? The one thing most people need to be aware is that diluted uranium can be reconverted and used as nuclear material for a bomb. Then the fact that the remaining enriched uranium can be used for research lends credence to the claim that Iran has the “right” to nuclear power

  • Iran announces that it will not enrich uranium over 5% for the duration of the 6 months.

So, Iran has to do nothing and can meet this criterion. Think about it. Do nothing and they will be rewarded for it.

  • Iran announces that it will not make any further advances of its activities at the Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant (1), Fordow (2), or the Arak reactor…
  • No new locations for enrichment.

Again, do nothing. They are not supposed to advances at these facilities, but they do not have to deconstruct these facilities or make them completely inoperable. Then Obama will end up having to take their word that they have no additional facilities. Oh, waittoo late. As CBS has reported, there are more than the three facilities that are mentioned in the deal.

  • Iran will continue its safeguarded R&D (research-and-development) practices, including its current enrichment R&D practices, which are not designed for accumulation of enriched uranium.

Again, this is an endorsement by Obama that Iran has the right to enrich uranium and therefore the right to nuclear power.

You could pore over every aspect of the deal and would come to the same realization. Iran’s nuclear program is not stopped. It is not rolled back and it is no further away from developing nuclear weapons than before the deal was finalized.

Finally, look at the Obama record of failure on the world stage – North Korea has continued their nuclear weapons program. Syria is still controlled by Assad. Libya terrorists kill a U.S. ambassador without consequence.  Lastly, Russia is the premier power broker in the world.

So, that is why these senators could “defy” Obama and want to impose sanctions once again.
