Lawmakers Mock Common Core Opponents With This Insulting Bill

Parents across America are beginning to recognize the truth behind conservative predictions regarding the federal education guidelines known as Common Core. Instead of emphasizing traditional academic standards, teachers are now stuck with a curriculum that puts an adherence to political correctness above all else.

Even when actual teaching does take place, the methodology used is often convoluted, using concepts foreign even to parents attempting to help their young children with their math homework.

While this has caused undeniable stress on students, parents, and teachers, many legislators apparently believe the next generation is best served by a one-size-fits-all federal standard. Incredibly, state legislators in Missouri are not above openly ridiculing Common Core’s detractors with an outrageous bill meant to portray them as lunatics.

In addition to the typical runaway spending included in the state’s proposed budget, one Republican congressman wants to add $8 to purchase tinfoil hats for these concerned Americans.

Rep. Mike Lair wants the money to purchase “two rolls of high density aluminum to create headgear designed to deflect drone and/or black helicopter mind reading and control technology.”

Lair, a retired teacher, is obviously a fan of the widely unpopular curriculum, as are the other members of the House education funding panel who voted in favor of his nonsensical proposal. Far more Americans likely believe those who still approve of Common Core should be fitted for a tinfoil hat.

Even the National Education Association’s president has come out in recent days with his biting criticism of the standards.

“Seven of ten teachers believe that implementation of the standards is going poorly in their schools,” Dennis Van Roekel wrote in a correspondence with the union’s members.

He went on to confirm that “two-thirds of all teachers report that they have not even been asked how to implement these new standards in their classrooms.”

The simple fact is that, like almost any federally mandated proposal, the stated results are being obfuscated by government ineptitude and corruption. Tragically, it seems the only individuals incapable of recognizing that are those with the power to impose this disaster on everyone else.
