NFL Player’s Three-Letter Response To Gay Kiss Earns Him Absurd Punishment

Over the weekend, the NFL draft was largely defined within the mainstream media by the selection of the league’s first-ever gay player, Michael Sam. Upon hearing the news, Sam and his “partner” engaged in a kiss televised by cable network ESPN.

Shortly after the on-air display, Miami Dolphins defensive back Don Jones posted “omg” on his Twitter account; and, in short order, he was effectively labeled a homophobe by his team and a number of social media users. A short time later, he posted “horrible” in response to an inquiry into whether the first tweet was a reference to the kiss.

Jones’ coach, Joe Philbin, issued a statement indicating the team was “disappointed to read Don’s tweets during the NFL Draft,” calling the post “inappropriate and unacceptable” and expressing regret for “the negative impact these comments had on such an important weekend for the NFL.”

Dolphins General Manager Dennis Hickey also weighed in:

“I was disappointed in those comments. That’s not what we stand for as an organization.”

Following in the NBA’s footsteps by issuing severe penalties for speech deemed inappropriate, Jones is now facing an undisclosed fine and a suspension pending his completion of “education training.”

These courses, designed by thought police to compel attendees to embrace socially accepted behavior, are growing in popularity as political correctness continues to take over American culture. Jones has apparently already embarked on the requisite apology tour by issuing an apology for his Twitter response.

“I want to apologize to Michael Sam for the inappropriate comments that I made last night on social media. I take full responsibility for them and I regret that these tweets took away from his draft moment.”

While the team is a private organization and can impose these penalties as its owners see fit, this is yet another example of what many see as an ongoing campaign to stifle free speech – especially regarding certain hot-button issues like homosexuality.

As evidenced in A&E’s action against “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson after his Bible-based comments on the subject, it is increasingly apparent that, in many environments, anything but full support of sexual perversion leaves the door open for swift and severe repercussions.
