Concealed Carry Would Have Kept Norway Safe

How long would the Norway gunman have lasted in Texas or any state where concealed-carry laws are on the books? I ran a survey while on a cruise: in Texas, 3 minutes; in Montana, 7 to 8 minutes; in Arizona, 2 minutes; and in Nevada, 3 to 5 minutes.

Had Norway not surrendered to the anti-self-defense nuts, and allowed Norwegians to protect themselves by legally carrying guns, the massacre might well have been prevented. There’s a lot of truth in the old adage that if guns are outlawed only outlaws will carry guns.

That was certainly true in Norway where Anders Breivik, a lone gunman, launched his assault on youth campers of Utoya Island. According to press reports he fully expected Norway’s special forces to swoop down and stop him at any minute. It didn’t happen. Faced with unarmed victims he was given plenty of time to kill 68 innocent people who could not defend themselves. Had just one of them been armed, Breivik could have been stopped dead and lives would have been spared.

Moreover, if anyone had paid attention to Breivik’s rants they would not have been surprised when he acted on them, especially since Breivik had preceded his attack by setting off a car bomb in the heart of Oslo.

Tragically, Norway’s anti-gun hysteria resulted in laws restricting gun ownership by law-abiding citizens, leaving them exposed to gun violence at the hands of criminals such as Breivik, who simply ignore anti-gun ownership laws. Despite the Second Amendment, which protects American citizens’ rights to access to guns for self-protection, the Constitutional right of citizens to bear arms is under constant assault….

Melson’s Testimony Proves Fast and Furious was an Obama Plot

On July 4th, Acting ATF Director Ken Melson testified for hours before representatives of the Grassley/Issa congressional committees. Personal counsel in tow, Melson made a number of allegations concerning the Department of Justice and two agencies under DOJ control—the FBI and the DEA.

According to his testimony, not only did the DOJ refuse his repeated requests that the ATF be permitted to provide information demanded by the congressional committees, the Department also arranged for tax dollars from the FBI and DEA to help finance Fast and Furious straw buyers.

And as Fast and Furious supplied weapons were found at the murder scenes of both ICE agent Jaime Zapata and Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, it means that both killings were financed by American taxpayers.

Equally disturbing to Sen. Chuck Grassley and Congressman Darrell Issa is the fact that the Justice Department tried to “conceal from Congress the possible involvement of other agencies in identifying and maybe even working with the same criminals that Operation Fast and Furious was trying to identify.”

That is, the FBI and DEA were working with the same drug dealing, gun trafficking higher ups the ATF was ostensibly targeting and hoping to unmask with Fast and Furious.

One such individual, deported years earlier by the DEA, is now working as a “counter terror informant,” tasked with reporting to the FBI the possible presence of dirty bombs and al-Qaeda members crossing the Mexican border into the U.S. Yet neither agency shared this information with the ATF. And, of course, neither did Eric Holder’s Department of Justice.

Two days after Melson’s testimony, the story broke of guns being walked out of the ATF office in Tampa, Florida. Their destination, Honduras, has become a major gateway for Colombian drugs entering Mexico and the United States. The weapons presumably went to Honduran M-13 and M-18 gangs, which have taken over the drug trade in the nation, making deals with Mexican and Colombian cartels.

So, these are the facts….

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-MD, wants to grab your guns.

On June 30th, Maryland Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings assembled gun confiscation advocates and Second Amendment foes from across the nation to approach the Project Gunrunner/Fast and Furious debacle by doing what the Left does best: changing the subject.

As it is not in the nature of liberals to allow truth to interfere with their agenda, the Congressman decided to ignore the fact that members of the Obama regime’s ATF had directed the sale of thousands of weapons to drug cartel straw buyers and assisted in trafficking those guns across the Mexican border.

Instead, Cummings claimed that“no legitimate examination of [drug cartel violence and illegal firearms trafficking] will be complete without analyzing our nation’s gun laws, which allow tens of thousands of assault weapons to flood into Mexico from the United States each year.”

It apparently escaped the Congressman’s notice that it was President Obama’s ATF and DOJ that fractured those gun laws and caused a flood of weapons across the border in the first place.

So, with the embarrassing facts of Project Gunrunner properly shoved under the table, the Cummings Forum offered the following recommendations to halt the flow of arms across the border….

Not content to pack off millions of miscreants, impoverished, or labor-averse citizens to the welcoming, welfare-bestowing arms of the United States government, Mexican President Felipe Calderon has decided to hold Americans responsible for his nation’s crime rate, as well. On November 2, 2010, Calderon retained the New York law firm of Reid, Collins, and Tsai to sue American gun manufacturers and dealers for the reputed massive influx of weapons into the otherwise zephyr-swept Shangri-La of Mexico.

“We seized more than 90,000 weapons…I am talking like 50,000 assault weapons, AR 15 machine guns, more than 8,000 grenades and almost 10 million bullets…The ones we are able to track, most of these are American weapons,” claimed El Presidente to CBS reporter Peter Greenberg.

The fact that American gun dealers don’t sell machine guns or grenades seemed to have little effect on the statement or CBS’s desire to run the story….

With the election approaching, Barack Hussein Obama has spared no effort in proclaiming his undying love of his country (the United States, we are told), his veneration of the Constitution, his enduring belief in the power of prayer, and the firm conviction that Americans have the right to keep and bear arms.

But we proletarians who manifest such sentiments had best beware of the Department of Homeland Security and its commandant, Big Sis Napolitano.

A proud assertion of patriotism by Americans who actually mean it may well succeed in marking one as a Suspected Domestic Terrorist….

The Liberals’ Gun Control Crusade Targets…the Amish?

The double-talking liberal Democrats in Illinois have voted down a Republican measure to demand that those attempting to vote produce a photo ID. The arguments they made were the same shopworn nonsense they always use: “Such a law will discourage voting”; “It disadvantage minority groups”; etc.

In spite of the ever-increasing movement toward photo identification everywhere we look, these people are able to kill photo ID bills. They have the votes in the Illinois legislature and fear their fraudulent voters will not be able to keep supporting them if the system were to become honest.

Gun Control is the Liberals’ Religion

The same liberal Democrats who fight to keep voters from having to produce photo ID have now passed a new law that will demand photo ID for those who want to exercise their Second Amendment right to buy a gun.

For most of the comrades living in a socialist-leaning state like Illinois, assaults on freedom like this are part of life. Nevertheless, not all of Illinois’ citizens can merely shrug off this law….

Obama’s Gun Grab? It’s a Matter of Time

“Although President Obama ran on campaign vows of reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun-show loophole…he’s been all but mute on those issues since entering the White House.” So laments the writer of a post-Tucson article in The Hill. The author is not alone in his belief that Obama has betrayed the Left by apparently abandoning his gun-grabbing ways. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence gave him an “F” in 2010, citing “extraordinary silence and passivity” on the part of its disappointing champion.

And make no mistake, Obama’s anti-Second Amendment credentials were, for years, beyond reproach. In 1996, in response to the question “do you support state legislation to…ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns,” Obama responded “Yes.”

In 1998, as an Illinois State Senator, Obama supported a ban on the sale and transfer of all semi-automatic weapons. In 1999 he voted for “smart-gun” technology, which would have made it impossible for anyone but the original owner to fire a particular weapon. He also voted for a bill making the owner of a stolen gun responsible for any crime committed with that weapon….

Montana Leads the Way to Liberty

Montana, America’s last best hope, is looking to legislate three common sense initiatives that will point the entire country in the right direction. America as a whole has strayed from the Constitution and our Founding Fathers’ vision of government, and this state is showing the way back. With its Democratic governor and two Democratic U.S. senators, Montana’s Republican legislature plans to introduce a broad state nullification act that will block any federal law Montanans consider unconstitutional.

House Bill No. 382, sponsored by Rep. Derek Skees, is known as “An act prohibiting infringement of the state of Montana’s constitutional right to nullification of any federal statute, mandate, or executive order considered unconstitutional by the state.” The bill provides a retroactive date for its application.

This bill is being championed by Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely (ret.), a Bigfork native. The general heads up the Patriots Union, which has distributed this bill as a model to 30 state legislatures through a large, patriotic network of conservatives.

Montana Bill No. 382 is based on the format of the Model State Nullification Reaffirmation Act of Wyoming.

Not content to restore the Tenth Amendment, Montana’s state legislature is also deliberating about the constitutional definition of “a well-regulated militia”….

“If You Try to Take Our Firearms, We Will Kill You”

Last December 14th Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed during an Arizona shootout with members of a Mexican drug cartel. But before the facts surrounding this murder could be buried with its victim, David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh brought the story to the American public. Working with contacts within the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), these men revealed what is now known as Project “Gunwalker”…the deliberate facilitation by the ATF of the sale of guns to known straw purchasers for Mexican drug cartels. Two of the rifles literally “walked” across the border by the ATF were found at the scene of agent Terry’s murder and with the cooperation of agency whistle blowers, Iowa senator Charles Grassley is investigating the accusations lodged against the agency. The investigative work they have done into Project Gunwalker and the ATF’s attempts to cover its tracks earn Codrea and Vanderboegh kudos from justice lovers and 2nd amendment supporters everywhere.

On February 26th, Vanderboegh printed an article entitled “America as a Free Fire Zone: A Critical Examination of Gun Culture Rationalizations” on his Sipset Street Irregulars blog. Written by Ernest Partridge, professor of Environmental Ethics at Wisconsin’s Northland College, the article predictably rehashes the same attacks, tripe, and misinformation for which gun-grabbers are famous. For decades, Second Amendment supporters have responded to anti-gun rights declarations of the type made by Professor Partridge with facts, reason, and well-researched statistics.
